Jamgon Tashi Lhundrub

He was born in 1672 in the water rat year of the 11th rabjung as the son of Father Yabten and Mother Yungdrung Buthrid in Dokhar. At around 7 years of age, he came to ngor.

He was born in 1672 in the water rat year of the 11th rabjung as the son of Father Yabten and Mother Yungdrung Buthrid in Dokhar. At around 7 years of age, he came to ngor. 

Offered the tuft of his hair to Khenpo lhundrub paldhen and was given the name jampa tashi lhundrub. 

At 16 years of agem he took the vows of a novice monk (SHRAMANER) from great abbot sangyey phuntsog.

At 23 years of age, in a ceremony where sharchen yeshe zangpo as the abbot and khedrub sangyey phuntsog as the master of activity and so on he got ordained as a fully ordained monk. 

He relied upon and sought the guidance of number of teachers including khedup tenzin lhundrub, minyag teacher Rigzin, khyabdhag sonam paldhen, jampa sonam Zangpo, sharchen lodroe drakpahe listened to and contemplated upon dharma. In particular, he received number of empowerments, oral transmission, and pithy instructions on Lamdre and so on from jamgon sangyey phuntsog. Also, at Dhondrup Ling, he built new shrines including a temple and a shrine of mahakala. At tharlam monastery, he built number of shrines including those of white and black mahakala.

At 51 years of age, in the water tiger year, he ascended upon the dharma throne of vajradhara kunga Zangpo.  

He bestowed countless individual liberation vows and various classes of tantric teachings empowerments, instructional teachings, and oral transmissions primary of them being the precious teachings of Lam-Dre. In the snake year, he appointed jamgon tsultrim lhundrub at the main seat. As invited by dege king tenpa tsering, in the monkey year he arrived upon the dharma throne connected with the kingdom of lhundrub teng. Due to his instructions or order to the dege king that we are disciples of jamgon sangyey phuntsog therefore it is required that his legacy should be continued the great king of dege built new monasteries, increased the number of ordained sanghas, organised texts of translation of buddha’s teaching (kagyur) written with golden and silver inks. Published all the volumes of translation of shastras (Tengyur) and, published the fifteen volumes of sakya kabum. Thus established several shrines associated with the holy body, holy speech, and holy mind of the buddha. 

Disciples also included great-self zhabdrung rinchen migyur gyalsten, the abbot of lingkhha dewa chen, yarlung tashi choedhin pal rinchen. Bhukshu sangyey palzang, dege king father-son and so on number of great disciples produced.

His composition work included two volumes made up of Praises to Gurus and tool-books of meditational retreat and so on to support disciples. At last, when he was sixty-eight years of age, in 1739 in the twelfth rabjung he passed away peacefully.
