School Curriculum - Recollecting the Qualities of Triple Gems, Confessions of downfalls, Mahakala Puja in Ngor Tradition

Subjects of the classes

Class 1

At this Glorious Ngor Evam, a typical student, initially during their first and second class undertake the preliminary study of language. After completing this, the student is permitted to move on to the 1st class of Primary Level (PL) 1. The primary subjects learnt at this level are memorisation of chants that include Recollecting the Qualities of Triple Gems, Confessions of downfalls, Skilful One (Praise to Buddha), Complete Tara Puja (brief version), Dharani of Amitayus, and the languages of Tibetan and English.

Class 2

At 2^nd class of PL: Students learn brief version of sixteen arhats, most internal part of general prayer of chanting, joy and happiness for migrant sentient beings, five types of aspirational prayers, those who have obtained the vows of a shramaner (novice monk) they earn the complete chants associated with restoring the vows, languages of Tibetan and English.

Class 3

At 3^rd class of PL, students learn the sadhana prayer of Butadamara, complete Mahakala puja in Ngor tradition (without the very slow chant skills), the students are required to learn to play musical instruments such as the loud long horn and other instruments. Languages of Tibetan and English and literary studies.

Class 4

At 4^th class of PL, students learn complete mahakala puja (including the slow chant and the musical instrument that goes with it), other chants known as Namthag-ma, Kukhyab-ma, Drowei-lama, manjushrinamasangiti, heart sutra, dharani, homage to Ushnishavijayi, bhutadamara retreat, Tibetan language and literature and English.

Class 5

At 5^th level of PL, students learn slow chant of new praises, samvid text until the start of the self-entrance, from here on the students are required to undertake the study of mandala drawing and applying coloured sand in the mandala, Tibetan language, and English.

Class 6

At 6^th level of PL, students learn Samvidvairochana from the self-entrance section of complete south entrance, its mudras, Samvid major retreat, and seven sections of tantras, prayers of longevity, and the chants of the sacred rituals of Akshobaya and Ushnisha-vijayi are required to be trained. Tibetan language, history of Tibet, dharma history, path of reasoning and English.

Class 7

At 7^th level of PL, students learn to memorise Guru Puja and the lateral part of general prayers and Sixty Bhairava etc needs to be completed together with the tunes and very slow chant.

Class 8

At 8^th level of PL, those students who have successfully completed the study of the texts of Hevajra empowerment-water, praise and auspicious singing and have received the certificate can proceed to further their studies at different university level places of higher studies.

Class 9

At 9^th level of PL, students, in addition to memorising the sixty Bhairava, complete either three visions or commentary of Hevajra and must remain in Hevajra retreat for eight months.

Class 10

At 10^th level of PL, students, in addition to performing the four unbreakable oral recitation, engage in listening and contemplation. Those who can take on the responsibility of a vajra acharya should undergo the retreats of tutelary deities such as Bhairava. They are to dedicate their life in the service of others.

Disclaimer

If any student fails to pass their yearly test, they are then required to continue in the same year. Even though that is the case however, if the student is unable to pass their test for three years, they are then required to take on any responsibility that is assigned upon them and be fervent in carrying out their responsibilities. The tradition of title given to the successful students is, as it has become clearer earlier if a student completes their 8^th year of primary level of education, they are provided with a certificate of completion and if they go on to complete all levels of primary level, completes the meditational retreat of the deities, if they possess the required ability and the knowledge they will then, as per the existing tradition, be issued with a certificate recognising their status of a vajra acharya and a Vajra acharya title is given to them.
