Jampa Sonam Zangpo

He was born in 1689 in the Earth Snake Year of the tenth rabjung as the son of Father Dheypa Kunga Sonam and Mother Passang in Lingma of tsang Valley. At 15 years of age, he came to Glorious Evam Choedhen. Having offered the tuf tof his hair to Khenchen Jampa Tsultrim Palzang he took the ordination of a lay buddhist and a novice monk.

At 21 years of age, in a ceremony where Jampa Tsultrim as the abbot and Jamyang Sonam Paldhen as the master of activity and so on he took the ordination of a fully ordained monk. 

From these abbots and masters and from paternal uncle sonam gyaltsen, kunga sonam, jamgon sonam paldhen, vajra-holder tenzin lhundrub, morchen kunga lhundrub, thubten khenchen ngawang tsultrim, Vinaya vow diligent and so on number of scholar and meditator he relied upon as his teachers.

Listened to or received many empowerments, explanatory teachings and pithy instructions concerning all of sutras and mantras. Completed meditational retreats of number of tutelary deities. At 25th year of age, ascended upon the great dharma throne of Evam Choedhen and preserved it for 9 years.

Precious Lamdre teachings was bestowed nine times in all. His disciples included many dharma upholders including mantradhara ngawang kunga sonam rinchen, evampa jamgon tashi lhundrup cousin and uncle etc. 

At 34 years of age, he appointed jamgon tashi lhundrub as his regent. At khangsar phuntsog ling, propagate teachings and meditation. Visited Mustang twice. With great spirit, mediated and reconciled between the people of mustang and mon. on the 15th of thakar month, again came back upon the throne of Evampa. In the iron monkey year, anointed sangay palzang as the throne holder. His few compositions work included the biography of tsultrim palzang and his dharma instructions/advice.

At last, at 61 years of age, in 1749 during the earth snake year of 13th rabjung, he peacefully passed away.
