Khenchen Ngawang Sonam Gyaltsen

He was born in the mid-14th Rabjung and around earlier period of 19th century, at a place known as Tsang Rong Gya Ngon Ngawang Lodoe Tenzin as cousin. From an earlier age he entered into the Ngor Khangsar. From the great abbot Kunga Tenpei Lodoe he received the teaching ambrosia of Three Vows and Lamdre and so on. From acharya Dorzin Ngawang Geleg, Jampa Kunga Tenzin, Naljor Jampal Zangpo, Paldhen Choekyi Gyaltsen, Ngawang Legdrub and so on he received great number of treatises of sutra and mantra. He engaged in listening and contemplating the meaning of these treatises. In particular, from Jampa Kunga Tenepi Gyaltsen he received and successfully completed the learning actions of listening and contemplating the number of important teachings including Precious Lamdre Teachings for disciples, 8 great teachings of Ngorpa, Hundred teachings of Jonang of sutra and mantra kind. He completed number of deities including Hevajra and because he managed to actualise white Vasundhara, he realised excellent wisdom. In the Earth Sheep year, he ascended upon the throne of Vajradhara. For a period of about 8 years, he looked after the headquarter/key seat he turned the wheel of dharma marked by profound and vast natured teachings such as precious lamdre teachings. Appointed Jamyang Sherab Gyatso as his regent he travelled to Chenpo Lingbar and as the guest of Dharma King of Dhege he travelled to greater Tibet provinces. He bestowed number of empowerments, teachings, and pithy instructions of precious Lamdre teachings. From Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo he received number of dharma belonging to the earlier and lateral teachings such as Kalachakra and so on. From Thubten Choekyi Dakpa he received Vinaya, Jamgon Lodoe Thaye he received Sheyja Kunkhyab. He travelled to Dheg Lhundrub teng, Throm Dho Khog Gon, Kyrgu Dhondrub Ling and so for about 8 years he worked for dharma and sentient beings. Again, he travelled to Utsang and passed his time giving teachings and doing meditation. His disciples included Jamyang Sherab Gyatso, Ngawang Lodoe Nyingpo, Khenchen Padma Dorje, Thubten Choekyi Dakpa, Geshe Phendhe Zangpo, Dhongthog Tulku and so on many other disciples. His compositions are two volumes: 1 Examples of Poetry Work, 2. Experiential Yogic Song of non-duality od samsara and nirvana. Eventually, at 59 years of age, passed away for the benefit of other sentient beings. (No clear date about his passing into nirvana).
