Khenchen Sonam Lhundup
He was born in 1714 in the wooden horse year of the 12th rabjung as the son to father dhepa lobsang and mother pon za drung in the main house of yey rui ling. At 8 years of age, he came to ngor due to the order/instruction of his uncle sonam Zangpo and did his study (listening and contemplating) there.
Became ordained under great abbot sonam Zangpo was given the name sonam lhundrub. Having relied upon his uncle, minyag tenpa gyaltsen, bhikshu sonam thargyey and so on he sought further studies.
At 19 years of age, at evam palace under abbot namkha samdup pal zangpo and ordination activity facilitator sangyey tsultrim and so on became a fully ordained monk. Further, from number of eminent scholars and meditation masters including sakyapa kunga lodoe Gyatso, jampa sonam zangpo, tsultrim lhundrup, tashi lhundrub, khenchen (great abbot) namkha samdrub, paldhen choekyong, sangyey palzang and khamtoe sonam Wangchuk and so on received number of empowerments, oral transmission, explanatory teachings, and pithy instructions. primary topic received among those is precious lamdre teachings. At 21 year of age, having travelled to zigon ladrang (guru place) of great dharma centre of kham, worked for the benefit of dharma. After that he travelled to visit khenchen tashi lhundrub and dharma king tenpa tsering in deghe. Was sought for dharma connection by the assemblage of lhundrub teng. From wooden tiger to iron monkey year, he remained in kham and worked for dharma. On the 29th of the upper-water month he travelled to Tsang. At 28th year of age, in the iron bird year he was appointed upon the dharma throe of vajradhara. Turned the wheel of dharma of hundred sadhanas (drubthab gyatsa) and precious lamdre teachings three times and so on. He had about 3000 permanent disciples. His main disciples included tsedhong tulku Rinpoche, khenchen paldhen choekyong’s cousin rinchen chogdrub, dred tulku, padma kalzang thinlay the tulku of jashong, abbot of mue thubten Namgyal, yellow coloured shangpa master and disciples, tanag thubten abbot, lama sherab paldhen and karma choedak and so on many disciples from kham. Eventually at 32nd year of age in 1745 of the wooden ox year of the 12th rabjung he passed away into nirvana.
