He was born in the year 1382 in the water dog year of sixth rabjung in Glorious Sakya, as the son of father Drubpa Yonten and Mother Sonam Paldren. Tawen Kunga Gyaltsen gave him the name Kunga Zangpo

From Sharchen Yeshe Gyaltsen received the three vows, until 25 years of age remained with Sharchen and took the profound essential teachings of sutras and tantras.

Furthermore,from choeje palden tsultrim, sazang phagpa, zhonnu lodoe, thamched khyenpa yagton and so on learned and meditation masters totalling chu thrrag ched thang nyi approached and gone to the other shore of listening and contemplating a oceanic amount of sutra, mantra and Rigney. From Buddhashri, the great realised master received all the profound teachings including verbal teaching of Lam Dre or path result. Became powerful and richness of General teachings and the Sakyapa tenets of teachings. Until the age of 48 he remained at the Greater Seat and his time invested in the practices of teaching and meditation. At his 48th age, in the year 1429 of seventh rabjung of earth-bird he established the great dharma seat of Ngor Evam Choe Dhen

Furthermore, Lowo thubten Thargey Ling, Chudhui, tingkheb, tengchen, guge etc places established number of sangha groups and continued the stream of teaching and listening. Performed the role of an abbot of over ten thousand fully ordained monks, turned uninterruptedly the wheel of dharma of sutras and mantras marked by Lamdre teachings 83 times and Vajramala more than 60 times.

His disciples included Sempa Chenpo Zhonnu Gyalchog, Khyenrab Wangchuk Drakpa Zangpo, Choeje Zhonnu Sengepa etc many great teachers and Great Self Zhithogpa Kunga Wangchuk etc khon lineage, heart-son muichen konchog gyaltsen, jamyang sherab Gyatso, kunga wangchuk, khedrub palden dorje, gugei Panchen, thagpo tashi namgyal, Panchen shakya chogdhen, jamchen rabjampa sangey phel, bumthrag sumpa jampa choedrub, drubchog konchog lhundurb, kunkhyen gorampa sonam senge, drubchen thangyal and so on uncountable assemblage of disciples.

His composition included more than four volumes of work on namthar, homages, commentary on tantra.

Eventually, at the age of seventy-five, during the 8th Rabjung fire mouse/cat, in the year 1456 he passed away in nirvana.
