Ngawang Sonam Gyaltsen
He was born in 1598 in the earth dog year of the tenth rabjung at Shar Gyalkhar tser as the son of Dhagpo Thutob and mother Yidznim Wangmo, the Cham of Yey Ru jangwa. At a very young age, he memorised thirteen mantra texts such as Hevajra Tantra. At 18 years of age, from Jamyang Sonam Wangpo took the ordination vows passed down from Dharma King Sakya Pandita. From Jamyang Sonam got his full ordination. Having gone to great seats such as Sakya relied upon eminent masters including Jamyang Sonam Wangpo, Dorjee Changwang Choedak, Sharchen Sherab Jungney and so on scholars and perfected the practice of listening, contemplating, and meditating regarding matters concerning the study of Sutra Mantra including precious lamdre teachings. Having relied upon Rabjampa Dorje Odser for six years he undertook study on number of texts.
At 58 years of age in the sheep year, he bestowed the precious teaching of Lamdre in Ngor. At sicty years of age, in the Fire Bird year of 11th Rabjung he ascended on the dharma throne of Ngorchen Vajradhara.
To an assemblage of sea of disciples, bestowed empowerment, instructional teachings on precious teachings of Path and Result (lamdre). Dharma wheel of Pithy instructions and so on dharma were put into motion.
In the earth dog year of 11th Rabjung he handed over the seat of learning to Pal ling Choeje Phuntsog. He went onto reside and taught dharma at Thubten gephel, Samdub Monastery, Palden Sakya and so. His disciles included Khenchen Namkha Rinchen, Sharpa dhagchen yeshe sangpo gyaltsen, Jamyang Tashi Palden and so on.
He went onto construct number of holy shrines of holy body, holy speech and holy mind including building the temple of self-realisation primordial wisdom place at Gonsar. His compositions include liberation stories of eminent masters, diary record of teachings received, methodical tools of meditational retreat and so on one volume exists for the benefit of disciples. This noble master’s entire life was spent in the acts of teach, debate, and write. Other notable practice included the recitation of samantabhdadra prayer seven thousand times, seven syllable mantra of panjara mahakala seven hundred thousand times and seventy-one thousand times and so on practice aspect involved himself/ Eventually, at seventy-seven years of age, in 1674 of wooden tiger year of 11th Rabjung at Thubten Gephel Ling he passed away into Nirvana.
