Shar Chen Jamyang Thubten Lungtog Gyaltsen

His Eminence was born as the son of a noble Sharchen family of father Gonpo and mother Palyon Pei’s daughter Sonam Kyid in 1896 of the Fire Monkey year of the 15th Rabjung.

His Eminence was born as the son of a noble Sharchen family of father Gonpo and mother Palyon Pei’s daughter Sonam Kyid in 1896 of the Fire Monkey year of the 15th Rabjung. 

At 13 years of age, he received the vows of a novice monk and precious lamdre teachings from the Ngorpa Abbot throne holder Khangsar khenchen Ngawang Khyenrab Jampal Nyingpo. He was given the title Phuntsok Tenpei Gyaltsen.

Khangsar khenchen Ngawang khyenrab Jampal Nyingpo recognized him as the reincarnation of Sharchen Migyur Gyaltsen. He traveled to Ga Athro Monastery and from many eminent masters, including Gen Sangye Zangpo, Lodoe Tenzin, the Guru of Upper Ga’s Dhongted Monastery, Lodoe Phuntsok, the guru of Throm Dhokhog Monastery, Phendhe Great Abbot Jampa Paldhen Choezed, and Drubwang Kunga Nyima, and so o,n he received teachings and contemplated upon the meaning of sutra, mantra, and other literature. At 30th year age of, he came to the Gloriously Great Dharma Land of EVAM. 

From Sharchen Gyalsey Jamyang Choekyi Nyima, he received many teachings, including Lam Dre for the Assemblage, and received the lineage of Ngorchen’s Vinaya vows of both novice and fully ordained ones. The venerable was given the name Jamyang Thubten Lungtog Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo. Having completed receiving teachings at Ngor, the venerable traveled to Eastern Tibet, and there he remained in meditational retreat for over ten years. 

In the areas in Deghe, he popularised the practice of teaching-receiving-meditating on the Collection of Sadhanas. At 47 years of age, he came upon the throne of the Great Land to perform the duties and activities of the throne holder and bestowed many empowerments, oral transmissions, and pithy instructions. In the Wooden Bird Year, he initiated the tasks to renovate Luding Ladrang (Guru’s Residence). Again, he visited Tharig Monastery, Thridhu Monastery, Kyegu Monastery, and so on in the area of Dokham and carried out the tasks of dharma. Eventually, at 57 years of age, on the 29th date of the third month of the water dragon year, he absorbed his consciousness into dharmadhatu.
