Sharchen Sherab Jungney
He was born in 1596 in the water monkey year of tenth rabjung at Chakhyel of the lower part of Zhed Zhung as the son of Father Bodhisattva Kunga Palden od the lineage of Dhagchen Sarawa and Mother Pema Tsering.
At the 8th year of age, he arrived Ngor Eva, Chodedhen.
Became ordained under khuwo Jamyang Kunga Tashi and was given the name Sherab Jungney.
At 12 years of age, under abbot kunga tashi and preceptor Konchok Gyaltsen etc took the vows of a novice monk.
At 21 years of age, at Tsedhong Chogleg Namgyal, great throne holder kunga sonam lhundup got fully ordained. From masters including those abbot and preceptor and from Khedrup (scholar and realised master) Palden Dhondup, Lopa Chen nga Kunga Dhondup, Ngagchng Ngawang Kunga Sonam and so on received ocean like teachings of sutra and mantra including pithy instructions of precious Lamdre and perfected contemplation on these topics. He attained the status of the trio of scholarly, nobility and kindness. At 30 years of age, during the wooden ox year of the tenth Rabjung was appointed the throne holder of Evam Choedhen. He nourished the seat of learning for 28 years. Turned uninterruptedly the wheel of dharma of precious teachings of lamdre etc.
Disciples included Dagchen Yeshe Zangpo, Kongton Dhondup Palzang, the great abbot of Thubten Namgyal, Excellent scholar Ngawang Tenpei Dorjee, Gonpo Sonam Chokdhen, Drangti Namkha Rinchen, Tulku Chagdor Norbu and so on. At 42 years of age, earth female year at great Zhalu Serkhang was appointed on the throne of Omniscient Buton Rinpoche. Through the deeds of teach, debate and composition he further popularised and expanded the teachings of the Buddha.
Eventually, at the fifty-eight years of age, in 1653 of the Water Snake year of 11th Rabjung, he passed away into nirvana.
