Thartse Khen Rinpoche Jamyang Kunga Tenpei Gyaltsen
His Eminence was born in Tanag Shud Gud Pel in the upper area of Tsang in Tibet in the Water Monkey Year of 16th Rabjung. At a very young age, he was invited to Ngor Thartse Guru Residence. He was given the title of a Shabdrung and recognized as the reincarnation of Thartse Khenchen Jamyang Kunzang Tnepie Gyaltsen. From Phendhen Khenchen Ngawang Khedrub Gyatso, he received several profound dharmas, chief among them being precious Lamdre teachings, Bodhisattva vows, and fully ordained (bhikkhu) vows.
From the great abbot noble Vajradhara, he received a number of times the precious Lamdre teachings for disciples, and other teachings.
From many eminent masters, including Tanag Khenchen Ngagi Wangchuk, Dzongsar Khenchen Dosib Thubten, and Khenchen Appey Rinpoche, he listened to and contemplated the meanings of sutra, mantra, along with knowable topics. Completed meditational retreats on a number of tutelary deities. In the Iron Rabbit year, he ascended to the golden throne of the regent of Great Evampa. For a duration of three years, through bestowing Lamdre as the primary teachings and imparting the three vows, he placed many disciples upon the stages of ripening and liberation. He supported the tradition of Sheddra by facilitating supporting factors, which included the matchless kindness of inviting Khenchen Appey Rinpoche to Ngor, Tibet. In the water pig year, when time changed in Tibet, he traveled to India. Initially, in GANGTOK, India, he received a number of empowerments and teachings from Jamgon Khyentse Choekyi Lodroe, and then he traveled to Darjeeling. In connection with the instructions of His Holiness, he traveled to Germany/Japan, where he successfully carried out important governmental duties.
Carried out duties related to dharma and sentient beings, which included the publication of fine-quality book versions of Sakya Kabhum, Ngorchen Kabhum, and Kunkhyen Kabhum.
Eventually, at 55 years of age, on the 1st of the 10th month of the Fire Rabbit year, he passed away for the sake of others.
