Regarding the Seat of Ngor Evam Chodan

In the Tibetan year of the 16th Rabjung, Earth Pig year 1959, when unbearable times of great decline befell the teachings in the Snow Land (Tibet), even Ngor's mother monastery was lost under the devastation of these turbulent times. The great masters who upheld the teachings had to flee as refugees to foreign lands, and the precious Buddhist teachings in general, and particularly the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, fell into a state of decline, degeneration, and helplessness due to these three causes of deterioration. At that time, the great illuminators of the teachings - Phende Khenpo Rinpoche Ngawang Khyentse Gyatso, Khangsar Khenpo Rinpoche Ngawang Khyentse Thubten Nyingpo, Thartse Khenpo Rinpoche Jamyang Kunga Tenpai Gyaltsen, and Luding Khenpo Rinpoche Jamyang Tenpai Nyima - took up the vajra armor of bodhicitta with great determination. In order to restore and maintain the continuity and flourishing of the Buddha's teachings in general, and particularly the pure tradition of the great Tsewa Chenpo (Great Compassionate One), they decided to establish Ngor monastery in northern India, in the Dera Dun area of Manduwala.

In the Earth Horse year 1978 of the 16th Rabjung, under the guidance and instruction of His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, the great Vajradhara, and with Luding Khenchen Vajradhara taking personal responsibility, the new Ngor Pal Ewam monastery was established. In 1988, when the temple with its supports and supported (statues and texts) was completed and consecrated, His Holiness the Sakya Trizin, the great Vajradhara, bestowed the complete cycle of empowerments, transmissions, and instructions from the non-sectarian great treasury of Dharma - the precious tantric collections - without error for many years. His Holiness Sakya Trizin Rinpoche bestowed the profound teachings of Lamdre (Path and Result). His Holiness Luding Khenchen Vajradhara gave many empowerments, transmissions, and instructions, primarily the Lamdre public teachings, and supervised this monastery with great kindness for many years.Subsequently, His Holiness Luding Khenpo Rinpoche Jamyang Chokyi Gyaltsen and His Holiness Thartse Khenpo Rinpoche Ngawang Sonam Chogden were both appointed as abbots by His Holiness the great Sakya Trizin according to the precious command of His Holiness, following the traditional custom. Each year, the two Rinpoches alternately manage the monastery and focus primarily on the practical stages of the fundamental Dharma of the teachings - the Vinaya discipline, Mahayana bodhicitta, and the tantras and pith instructions of the Vajrayana through meditation and practice.

Primarily through the Path and Result oral tradition, they ripen and liberate disciples according to their individual inclinations and capabilities through empowerments, blessings, tantras, and pith instructions. They maintain and continue to maintain the unsurpassed activities of serving the teachings through the three activities of teaching, debate, and meditation. Khangsar Shabdrung Rinpoche Ngawang Khyentse Tendzin Trinley Chog and the two Luding Shabdrung Rinpoches also engage in study and contemplation. For the resident monastic community, to maintain and develop the excellent traditions of the past, they provide opportunities and conditions for training in the ritual practices and liturgies of the ocean of tantras, as well as study of inner and outer languages in the basic educational program. After completing their studies here, there is an excellent tradition of going to the great Guhyasamaja tantra college and other monastic colleges for advanced scriptural study, and retreat practice. There are continuous streams of those who engage in teaching, listening, study, and contemplation, as well as those who undertake meditation practice, thus excellently accomplishing the revival, continuation, and spread of the flame of the teachings.
