Introduction to the Monastic Establishments (Bla Brang)

In general, at the glorious Ngor Evam Chöden, from Ngorchen Dorje to the omniscient Sonam Senge, there were no separate monastic establishments (bla brang) for each individual. Later, when the throne holders served their terms and retired to side residences, a tradition developed where each established their own monastic establishment to give teachings to their respective disciples, and these gradually flourished and expanded.Regarding the successive abbots of the various monastic establishments, this is approximately correct, but any errors or omissions should be corrected through instruction.

Khang Sar Bla Brang (Additional Note)

The Khang Sar Bla Brang was established in the early part of the 13th Rabjung by Jamyang Könchog Dragpa, but since he was unable to hold the general throne at the appropriate time, the four establishments mentioned above are considered the main custodians of the doctrine.
The abbots of these establishments take turns holding the throne of the glorious Ngor Evam Pa, managing the monastery, and primarily giving empowerments, transmissions, instructions, and blessings of Sung-ngag Lamdre and other teachings to those seeking the Dharma, as well as continuously conferring bodhisattva vows and novice and full monk ordinations. The lamas of other establishments must also cut their life-streams [take ordination], and the tradition continues whereby only the Khyung Ding Bla Brang lineage manages the administration.
